NBCUniversal

Ad Sales Intern

June 2021 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I genuinely loved getting to know the professionals at NBCUniversal. My teams have been filled with inspirational professionals who are so willing to support me and give me opportunities to grow and learn something new.

What I wish was different

My internship at NBCUniversal has been remote since June. I am beyond grateful that I was given lots of resources, such as a company laptop or a reimbursement form to buy office supplies at home, I would have prefered to go into the office.

Advice

Lean into the experience. Whether you get "big" or "little" projects, all are opportunities to learn and develop new skills.

Ad Sales Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Great experience and got to work on really cool projects on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics - manager was very nice and kind and everyone in my department was very welcoming.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship project would have been different - I personally don’t think there should be intern projects and we should focus more on work within our departments.

Advice

Learn as much as you can, reach out to people in different departments, and never be afraid to ask a million questions!

Intern

June - August 2023 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked how involved I was with the show. Every day I was writing for Tom Llamas, editing videos, and/or shadowing producers.

What I wish was different

Nothing!

Advice

My best piece of advice is to use all of your resources to your advantage during your internship. Because before you know it, your internship will be over.

Project Management Intern

June 2021 • Fairfax, VA

What I liked

I was able to gain experience in hands-on situations. I lead meetings, create metrics which I present bi-weekly to the team, developed a design for a change to the NBCNews app which I presented to leadership, wrote a published article, collaborated on the Intern Insider (Intern newsletter), and more.

Media Technology Intern

June 2019 • Universal City, CA

What I liked

The company culture. Interns have plenty of opportunities to get to know each other and people in leadership positions at the company.

What I wish was different

I wish the work was a little more technical in nature. I wrote lots of documentation and didn't do any actual coding.

Advice

Speak to people, everyone there was willing to share their experiences.

NBC News Intern

September 2023 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I like how my employers treat me as an equal, and we all are very open about what we enjoy from our job. They understand that I am new to the scene and are willing to spend all the time they need to get me up to speed.

What I wish was different

I only just started a week ago, so I cannot give a comprehensive assessment on that yet.

Advice

Keep your cool and show them you belong, because you will have run-ins and assignments with some well-known anchors and news personalities, and you want to make a positive impression by treating them with respect like a normal human and not as much like they're a major A-list celebrity.
