
Seasonal Beach Coordinator
The Town of Falmouth is currently seeking applicants for a Seasonal Beach Coordinator to assist the Beach Superintendent and Assistant Beach Superintendent in managing Beach Department operations at the Ellen T. Mitchell Bathhouse and ten Town-owned beaches: Menauhant, Bristol, Falmouth Heights, Surf Drive, Mill Road Extension, M.B.L. Stoney, Goodwill Park, Wood Neck, Chapoquoit, Old Silver, and Megansett. This position primarily works through September, including weekends and holidays. The position works up to 36 hours per week through Labor Day and up to 19 hours per week during other times of the year, including during the standard Monday through Friday workweek.
Under the direction of the Beach Superintendent, the Beach Coordinator assists with the coordination of the hiring, re-hiring, and onboarding of 150 seasonal Beach employees; assists the Beach Superintendent and Assistant Beach Superintendent with the orientation, training, and general supervision of all other Beach staff; conducts site visits all locations to monitor operations and provides feedback to the staff and the Beach Superintendent; reconciles fees collected and deposited by Beach Department staff; serves as a Beach Department liaison to the DPW Highway Division’s Beach Maintenance Subdivision; responds to public inquiries regarding the Beach Department; and performs any other functions as required or requested to support safe and efficient Beach Department operations.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an associate degree in recreation, sports management, education, program management, or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in beach, waterfront, aquatics, or community recreation management with supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Applicants must be available in a full-time status during the summer, including weekends and up to 19 hours per week during the standard Monday through Friday workweek throughout the school year. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide their own transportation to/from the Bathhouse and the ten (10) Town-owned beaches. Applicants must also have a valid Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Waterfront Skills certification or the ability to obtain the certification during the first sixty (60) days of employment.
The Town offers this certification course for applicants who are not already certified. The Town’s course costs $175 and runs weekdays from Monday 7/14/25 through Thursday 7/31/25 for 2-3 hours each afternoon, most often from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Register before July 14th at the Ellen T. Mitchell Bathhouse (56 Surf Drive, Falmouth, MA 02540), which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registrations will be accepted up to a maximum enrollment of 20 attendees. The pay for the first season of employment is $25.12/hour and increases with each year of employment.
