Graphic and Web Designer

Graphic and Web Designer
Here's your opportunity to brand a 21st century, data driven, values-led voting organization that's out to change the world.  We're looking to transform youth voter registration in America, and we need a graphic designer with talent, pop, adaptability, and a commitment to social justice.  Diverse candidates of all stripes encouraged to apply—we believe our nation is better when all voices are heard.

Context:
Lift Every Vote, a civic education nonprofit, was founded as an activist group in 2016 to work on structural voting projects that yield permanent, transformational change. Over 5,000 activists have worked on our projects, contributing nearly $1M to execute them.  In 2024, we transitioned to a 501(c)3.

Our North Star: Voting equality for all Americans, including universal adult citizen eligibility and registration; equal access; equal voting power.

Our Mission: To create, collaborate on, and contribute to projects that advance voting equality, resulting in permanent gains in eligibility or registration.  To design public education efforts that empower citizens to participate in elections, advocate for their needs, and design the democracy they want.

Our 2025-26 effort, The Largest Generation Project, is a comprehensive civic ignition program to empower our nation’s largest generation of voters to register, vote, advocate, design change, and claim their political majority.

So the job is, brand a value-led, data-driven, 21st century civic education nonprofit.

The deliverables for this project are:
Logo(s) that convey a scrappy, creative, civic design-focused startup

Typography + consistent graphic elements that can be repurposed across platforms: social, digital, web, lessons, deck, print, swag

Website refresh: engaging home page motion, plus interactivity, optimism, power, agency (www.lifteveryvote.org)

This is a project-based job that could lead to ongoing regular freelance work.

WARNING BEFORE YOU APPLY
YOU MUST
—have or be 1 year away from finishing a BA or BFA in graphic design.
—have significant UX/UI experience and accomplishments on your portfolio
—Produce a resume that is not named “resume” but rather, Lastname_Firstname_Date. It must have no spelling errors, whatsoever.  It must be a PDF with a working link to your portfolio and to your email.  It must be designed, not just, a list.
—You must have a portfolio that has elements in multiple styles, so that it doesn't look like, if we hire you, it's your way or the highway
—The portfolio needs to be an actual website, not a google drive link with some files we're supposed to slog through

And beyond professionalism 101—you need to display a track record of civic engagement or social justice work experience.

DON'T apply though you don't have the requirements because, might as well throw your hat in the ring.

DO Apply because you have deep graphic design training, typography and color training,  UX/UI training (the Google certificate is enough), AND YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD!
