About Notre Dame Mission Volunteers AmeriCorps (NDMVA)
NDMVA teams work with local partners to increase access to education and other essential social services. By collaborating with local organizations, NDMVA aims to make a lasting impression on the lives of individuals and families in the region. As a member, you will serve at Sequoia High School for 10.5 months, September-July, full-time, providing essential mentorship support to high school students.

About Sequoia High School
Sequoia High School is a public school located in Redwood City. You will be working out of the Sequoia Teen Resource Center at Sequoia High School. The Center provides free confidential counseling, and youth development services to help students increase their academic performance, improve behavior and personal relationships, make positive decisions and set future goals. The Center teaches youth skills and provides them with opportunities to make changes in their personal lives, families, school, and community.
Position Duties
- In collaboration with staff, support a caseload of high school students 9-12 grade with academic support
- Provide individual mentoring and academic tutoring
- Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, administration, and parents/guardians
- Support Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) classes (students first in their families to attend college)
- Support lunch-time campus supervision
- Teamwork-Integral part of the Teen Resource Center team
- Conduct pre- and post-surveys for tracking the academic engagement performance measure
- Collaborate with Site Supervisor to address challenges and advance toward goals
- Attend trainings and participate in meetings as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with Site Supervisor and Site Manager.
Qualifications
- Preferred college experience/degree
- Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus
- Experience working/volunteering with youth in schools or community is a plus

Pay: $2,857.00 per month
