Part Time Physical Therapist (contracted) (SY 2025-2026)

Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS) Physical Therapist is patient and compassionate. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping students achieve their physical potential and overcome barriers to learning. You will work collaboratively with educators, parents, and other specialists to support the physical development and well-being of our students. The current caseload consists of 10 students; subject to change based on students’ needs.

Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS) seeks a passionate part time  contracted Physical Therapist with an outstanding academic background to work with our school teams, renowned for closing the achievement gap. CDCPS manages multiple campuses across Lawrence, MA, and serves 1,200 pre-kindergarten to 8th-grade students. We believe in providing our students with a rigorous student-centered academic program while investing in their social, emotional, and holistic well-being. CDCPS has dedicated teams to support our teachers, ensuring our students' success.

Responsibilities :

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' physical abilities and challenges.
  • Develop individualized therapy plans based on evaluations and student needs.
  • Monitor and document student progress regularly.

Therapeutic Intervention:

  • Implement therapeutic programs and exercises to improve students' physical function and mobility.
  • Utilize various techniques and equipment to address motor skills, strength, and coordination.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students individually or in groups.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with staff, families, and other specialists to integrate physical therapy goals into students’ educational plans.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Plan meetings and provide professional insights on students’ physical therapy needs and progress.
  • Educate school staff and families on physical therapy strategies to support students' daily activities.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure all therapy services comply with federal, state, and school policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided, progress notes, and evaluations.
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in physical therapy and documentation.
  • All other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Schedule: Physical Therapists can start providing on-site Physical Therapy services as early as 8 AM, and the latest is 3 PM as the school schedule ends at 3:30 PM. (There is flexibility on which days of the week/ their schedule).

Location: This Part Time Physical Therapist will be traveling to the various CDCPS campuses to provide in-person services. Mileage reimbursement is available for traveling in between CDCPS campuses.

Qualifications :

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • A valid state license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
  • Previous experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with children with diverse physical needs is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of pediatric physical therapy techniques and principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail and deadlines.
