General Description
Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG), part of our Solutions and Multi-Asset Group, specializes in managing outsourced CIO programs, custom multi-asset portfolios and liquid alternative investment strategies. The team’s expertise lies in partnering with institutional and high net worth investors to understand their unique needs and crafting solutions to help them achieve their overall investment objectives.
PSG is looking for thoughtful and solutions-oriented candidates to join the team. The individual will function as a quantitative research analyst and engage in the development, implementation, and utilization of quantitative tools for asset allocation, portfolio construction, and customized investment solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Research and develop quantitative portfolio construction tools for allocations across a broad range of financial investments
- Design investment solutions to be deployed for institutional clients who generally have complicated investment objectives and constraints, including pension funds, endowments and foundations, financial institutions, and ultra-high net worth clients
- Conduct quantitative analysis to assess investment opportunity sets and key risks for various investment strategies for possible inclusion into portfolio
- Perform multi-asset portfolio analysis for prospects and provide investment recommendations that enhance portfolio characteristics
- Assistance in the development of proprietary quantitative tools, including alpha forecasting tool, portfolio optimization and risk management tools.
- Analyze current and prospect portfolios
- Project manage various projects simultaneously
Job Requirements:
- Pursuing an advanced degree (MS/MA) in Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, or a related field and will graduate between December 2026 and June 2027
- Proficiency in coding (Python preferred, Experience with Matlab is a plus)
- Resourceful, self-motivated individual with intellectual curiosity able to demonstrate creative approach to problem solving, and strong work ethic are necessary requirement for success in the position
- Strong attention to detail, follow up and overseeing projects through completion
- Must be able to produce high-quality work independently and excel in a team environment
- Must be able to work under time sensitive constraints
- Must be adept at problem solving and solutions oriented

Expected base pay rates for the role will be $60.10 per hour at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
