College Assistant Secondary Education Office

The SEYS department is seeking a part-time, fully in-person College Assistant to help provide continuous office coverage and staffing redundancy. For the Fall 2025 semester, they will be expected to work 9:00-5:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays (7 hours working, 1 hour lunch), as well as 9:30-4:30 (6 hours working, one hour lunch) on an additional weekday of their choosing; weekly hours to equal 20. Schedules may change in collaboration with other SEYS staff on a per semester basis.

 

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

 

-Answer and attend to telephone calls.

-Assist both prospective and current students with walk-in inquiries, and with the distribution of program and course information.

-Maintain front desk and triage students for office hours during periods of heavy traffic.

-Reach out to current and prospective students via phone, email, or QC Navigate regarding admissions, enrollment, or related as needed. Add associated documentation to QC Navigate profiles.

-Support administrative staff with tasks relating to admissions, program completion, graduation, property management/equipment inventory, or any other tasks required by office administration.

-Sort and distribute mail upon arrival (morning), and prepare outgoing mail (afternoon).

-Under supervision, perform miscellaneous clerical, administrative, record keeping, file maintenance, or other work related to the operation of the department.

-With knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, CUNYfirst, QC Navigate, or other related systems, create and maintain databases, lists, letters, memoranda, charts, similar materials, and any other works required by office administration.

-Clerical support for departmental administration, faculty, adjuncts, and clinical supervisors; including but not limited to: pulling rosters, making copies, posting notices, delivering parcels inter-office, etc.
