Communications Internship
Communications Production Intern
Responsibilities include:
- Produce promotional content, including social media posts, video clips, graphics for U.S. and Chinese social media platforms, and other digital products as required
- Utilize design and production platforms such as Capcut/Jianying, Canva, Veed, and Adobe Suite
- Evaluate and monitor content on U.S. and Chinese social media platforms, track audience trends and public sentiment
- Translate social media content from English into Chinese and vice versa.
- Collaborate on and contribute to video interview series, podcasts, and outreach to public audiences
- Conduct research on topics as needed, such as the U.S.-China economic relationship, cultural exchange, technology, etc
Qualifications:
Required:
- Experience in content creation or marketing for both international and Chinese social media platforms
- Working proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English
- Familiarity with basic trends and current events in U.S.-China relations
- Knowledge of basic editing or design software
- Comfortable working in a team environment
- Strong time management
- Creative thinker
Preferred:
- Academic background in journalism, digital marketing, communications, or related fields. Chinese studies, international relations, and related fields also considered
- Cultural sensitivity to key political, social, or cultural issues and trends especially in online communities and discourse
- Strong video production experience for U.S. and/or Chinese social media
Communications Editorial Intern
Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the weekly production of the China & the Hill newsletter and podcast on Monday and Tuesday
- Monitor news items related to U.S.-China relations and global affairs
- Write and edit news briefs, podcast scripts, report text, and other items as needed
- Contribute to the Committee’s efforts in public education and community retention for the China & the Hill podcast
- Brainstorm and research content ideas related to U.S-China relations including the economic relationship, cultural exchange, technology, etc
- Collaborate on and contribute to video interview series, podcasts, and outreach to public audiences
Qualifications:
Required:
- Excellent writing abilities and strong attention to detail
- Nuanced and deep understanding of the U.S.-China relationship
- Work availability on Mondays and Tuesdays
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
- Strong time management and ability to execute tasks independently
- Creative thinker
- Strongly values public education
Preferred:
- Experience in the policy or business world
- Journalism or editing experience
- Interest or experience in social media communications or content creation; or a strong desire to learn in this area
