WaterFire Providence, an arts nonprofit, seeks an enthusiastic intern to join our team and help engage with our supporters. The mission of WaterFire is to revitalize Providence and creatively transform our community. Overview:
As part of the Creative Services department, the Graphic Design intern will work to visually communicate WaterFire Providence’s mission and vision. Projects will involve various aspects of the organization working with all departments including events and programming, philanthropy and sponsorship, and volunteerism. The Graphic Design intern will work to design and produce content for our website, social media, public display, and other mediums. Working within the Creative Services team the Graphic Design intern will gain an understanding of the design process, from concept to build.
Responsibilities:
The Graphic Design intern will provide support to the store + gallery at the WaterFire Arts Center and the WaterFire lighting events.
- Conceptualize and edit effective graphic design content for branded communications
- Support marketing campaigns; creating and executing content for social media and email marketing
- Communicate with Creative Services staff members on various graphic needs (digital and print) across the organization including sponsorship, volunteerism, events, and merchandise materials
- Participate in design reviews, creative brainstorms and production meetings
- Assist in photo and video editing when needed
- File management and archiving for proper storage and retrieval
- Research and strategize projects upon request
- Assist in merchandise fundraising, including product design and development, as well as other fundraising efforts
- Contribute to brand awareness strategy and internal branding and design system updates
Qualifications:
- Have a curious mindset
- Excellent knowledge of the Google Workspace
- Excellent design skills with a focus on typography and layout
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Excellent organizational, time management, communications and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to take feedback and direction
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Must have a genuine interest in art, culture and community
- Has an understanding and interest branding and marketing as well as measuring and evaluating success
