Boston Public Market General Intern

Organization Overview

Boston Public Market is an indoor, year-round marketplace featuring over 30 New England artisans and food producers housed under one roof offering fresh groceries, prepared meals, crafts, specialty items, and local libations.  
 
As a nonprofit organization, the Boston Public Market Association is a “Market on a Mission” to: celebrate the bounty of all New England has to offer; nurture and support food growers, producers, and entrepreneurs who have barriers to fully participate in the market; educate neighbors and visitors on the importance of a resilient and equitable food system, local sourcing, and nutrition; celebrate, deepen, and cultivate a diverse community around food. 

Responsibilities

General responsibilities will include: 

Public Market Administration Support – Work with staff on promotional events, community outreach, programming development, and daily operations of the BPM. 

Marketing & Events – Assist the marketing team in facilitating a vibrant, cohesive, and eye-catching atmosphere in the market with tasks including: social media content creation, managing company and customer databases, assisting in event organization and execution, and development and distribution of marketing materials. 

Short Term Vendor Program – Work with the staff to coordinate the short-term vending program. May include researching potential seasonal vendors and assisting the operations team with vendor administration and move in. 

Qualifications

Ability to schedule 10 in-person work hours between 9am-5pm Tuesday-Thursday (we are happy to work around class, jobs, extracurriculars). The ability to attend occasional evening/weekend events is a plus. 

Interest in sustainability, marketing and events, food systems, start-up business experience, and/or the nonprofit sector; 

Currently pursuing or have recently completed an undergraduate degree; 

Strong research and communication skills, particularly interviewing and writing; 

Basic computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office; 

Highly organized and able to keep track of multiple projects simultaneously; 

Experience with Sharepoint, Canva, and Google Docs a plus; 

Must be a self-starter and strong collaborator.
