Student Support Coordinator (Social Impact Track)
We are a company dedicated to teaching. Founded in 2005 by PhD candidates at Harvard, we offer the highest-quality online tutoring globally to students of all ages.
Student Support Coordinator (Social Impact Track)
Our Student Support team is a skilled group of professionals working at the intersection of educational advising and account management. We provide the highest-quality guidance to students and families, thoughtfully match them with tutors, and work tirelessly to ensure the value and longevity of those relationships. As a Student Support Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in both administrative and client-facing support. The Social Impact track allows for the Coordinator to dedicate 20% of their time to expand and fulfill our partnerships with social impact organizations.
Student Support Coordinator (80%)
You will assist the Student Support team’s intake and account management processes, interfacing directly with students and families from initial outreach through the completion of their tutoring programs. You will also collaborate closely with the team to enable new tutoring relationships and ensure their long-term success.
This role demands exceptional organization, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. You will manage a high volume of daily emails, phone calls, transactions, and multi-step operational workflows. But managing a portfolio of student accounts is also a big people job — one that requires empathy, strong communication skills, and interpersonal intuition. You should be able to manage, and move fluently between, administrative and relationship management tasks.
While the role begins with a focus on administrative support, we provide robust training in educational advising and consultative sales. Over time, you’ll learn how to help students and families navigate our offerings, explain services and pricing, and recommend next steps based on individual goals. Ultimately, we expect you to grow into a trusted steward of tutor-student relationships, and an advisor to the families we serve.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly: we find this work really meaningful, and we hope you do too. The company and its coaches are deeply invested in the special thing that happens when a student meets a mentor who believes in them, invests in them, and helps them fulfill their academic and career dreams.

Who We Are & Who We Aren't
Cambridge Coaching started as a group of friends who also happened to be Harvard and MIT PhDs. We’ve never been a large corporation, a VC-backed startup, or a tutoring marketplace. From the beginning, we’ve been educators building a company we would want to work for — one grounded in meaningful tutor-student relationships, intellectual joy, and serious teaching. We called ourselves Cool Dorks because we believed the best tutors weren’t just good teachers — they were inspirational role models who brought curiosity and a sense of adventure to their tutoring.
We identified then, and still do, as scholars, thinkers, and creators across every discipline: physicists, historians, economists, literary critics, chemists, sociologists, lawyers, linguists, biologists, and mathematicians who provide exceptional one-on-one academic support, standardized test preparation, and admissions coaching. Despite the breadth and diversity of our expertise, we all share a commitment to one thing: excellence in teaching.
Over the last twenty years, we’ve not only assembled and nurtured the most talented roster of tutors in the industry — we’ve also built a passionate and mission-driven management team. Like the tutors who originally created Cambridge Coaching, one of whom is our current Managing Director, our management team is made up of educators, academic advisors, and dedicated diehards willing to do what it takes to create meaningful teaching and learning experiences for our students and tutors.
This management team includes Student Support, Tutor Experience, and Operations — three groups that work hand-in-hand in a culture defined by high standards, empathy, and collaboration. The creativity and diligence of our management team are unparalleled, allowing us to combine thoughtful advising with the agility of a small business to create a unique and mission-driven voice in the education space.
In everything we do, we follow a few basic principles:
- We are bootstrapped, so we operate according to what is best for our tutors and students. No PE or VC lurking in the background here.
- We always strive to improve our tutoring, putting the quality of our services over any bottom-line goal.
- Our team offers best-in-class academic advising. We don’t just sell tutoring. We listen, we care, and we give honest advice based on our deep knowledge of higher education.
- We are focused on making tutors’ lives easier and better, and we pay our tutors the majority of our company revenue.
- Consistent with our values, we are grateful to partner with high-impact non-profits working to improve the education pathways of underrepresented and underserved students. Our current social impact portfolio includes robust academic partnerships with Prep for Prep, MITES, and Mentoring in Medicine.
Why You Should Work With Us
- A mission-driven tutoring company that operates with integrity. We are dedicated to providing meaningful academic advising, delivering a fair deal for tutors, and ensuring the highest-quality tutoring for students.
- A cool brand defined by no-bullshit transparency, the highest academic standards, and a playful, collegial relationship to teaching and learning.
- An intense, dynamic business environment. We work hard because the work matters, and because we know we are building a unique organization within the supplemental education space.
- An excellent professional training opportunity encompassing business and academic advising expertise. Everyone on our small management team hones a broadly applicable set of professional skills. If you are eager to learn, this may just be the best entry-level job in this industry.
- An abundance of growth opportunities with enormous latitude for creativity. We want you to be creative, interesting, and entrepreneurial, so we’ll give you as much autonomy, and support, as you need to be those things.
- A kind, mutually supportive, and incredibly fun team. We enjoy each other’s company.
- An unparalleled network of wildly impressive tutors. We work with the most crazy brilliant and interesting people in every field and sector: rocket scientists, writers and artists, entrepreneurs, you name it. Can’t do much better for an extended network of colleagues.
