Key responsibilities

  • Lead sing-along, rhythm, and movement activities that build foundational musical skills and support social-emotional growth.
  • Introduce students to a variety of instruments (e.g., percussion, keyboards, simple strings, classroom instruments) through structured exploration and games.
  • Facilitate a “Beat Lab” style experience where students experiment with DJ basics, beat-making, and digital percussion using age-appropriate tools and software.
  • Differentiate instruction by age group (early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school) to ensure lessons are developmentally appropriate and engaging.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that aligns with program and school expectations.
  • Communicate proactively with site directors and program coordinators regarding attendance, behavior, and student progress.

  • Background in music education, music performance, sound production, DJing, or related field (formal degree or equivalent experience).
  • Comfort leading groups of students across a broad age range (PreK–12) and adapting content and classroom management style accordingly.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage diverse learners through play, creativity, and clear structure.
  • Reliable, professional, and punctual, with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Availability during afterschool hours on weekdays, with additional opportunities during school breaks and summer camps.
