Camp Counselor at Autism Program

We are a residential camp for people with autism spectrum diagnoses. We offer extensive staff training in providing these services and have the pleasure of serving some wonderfully unique people over the course of a summer. 

Our staff are typically college students who are pursuing disciplines that serve people with disabilities. The experience we offer to these students is unparalleled in providing training experience for anyone interested in serving autistic clients. 

Our clients come for one week at a time, and we typically have a new set of clients each week. They are grouped by age, and we serve ages 4-adult. We have 2 weeks for each age group (4-11, 12-17, 18 and up) and two of those weeks are designated as "high-functioning autism" weeks for the younger groups. 

The work is challenging. We support campers in all areas of daily living, as many of them have co-occurring intellectual disabilities. This means that we prepare our counselors to help with eating, hygiene, bathing, toileting, and behavioral needs for their assigned camper (each staff is typically assigned one camper for the week.)

Campers sleep in separate quarters with "night-duty" staff. This means that counselors have evenings off. The night-duty staff are rotated throughout the summer, and each counselor pulls at least one week of night-duty (which is a third shift assignment.)

Our staff compensation includes room and board in addition to a weekly stipend of $300, paid on the 15th and 30th of each month.
