Founded in 1954, Fountain, Arrington, Bass, Mercer & Lee is located on the north side of Columbus, Georgia, just a short commute from Auburn or Opelika.  Our Firm services clients throughout the East Central Alabama and West Central Georgia area.  We are always looking for the best talent to assist our firm in providing exceptional service to our clients.    

Due to recent growth, we are looking for a full-time, on-site, staff accountant in the areas of taxation and audits with the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years in public accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Thorough knowledge of public accounting and corporate finance practices, principles, and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations and laws, regulations, and compliance requirements for high-net worth individuals, trusts, and estates.
  • Preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the year.
  • Assist clients in preparing financial statements, budgets, and reports.
  • Strong understanding of the preparation of financial statements, business and income tax worksheets and computations.
  • Ensuring compliance with all tax regulations and laws.
  • Self-motivated to work independently and balance workload assignments within time constraints.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research complex tax issues and provide innovative solutions.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Positive, friendly presence and team-oriented mindset.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong technical tax preparation skills including a strong knowledge of Lacerte, QuickBooks desktop and QuickBooks online.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in tax return preparation and review.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Integrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial material.
