Paid Canvasser / Field Representative (Internship Eligible)
Position Overview: Field & Community Representative
The field and community reps will work directly with a Regional Field Organizer lead to execute the campaign’s field plan and outreach, to manage volunteer recruitment and retention, and to conduct Direct Voter Contact.
Key Responsibilities
- Staff will be required to do Direct Voter Contact through door to door canvassing and events as needed to connect with voters on behalf of the campaign.
- Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner, answering questions about the candidate's platform and encouraging voter participation.
- Maintain excellent communication skills and be friendly, outgoing, and persuasive.
- Accurately record voter preferences and contact information using provided tools and technology.
- Provide daily updates and reports on progress and voter feedback to your direct supervisor at the end of your shift(s).
- Adhere to all campaign regulations and guidelines, ensuring ethical and legal canvassing practices.
- Must be able to navigate a door-to door map via personal cell, outside and sometimes up and down hills or stairs, multiple times a day.
- Expectation is 12-15 hours minimum up to 42 hours per week.
- All staff members will be expected to assist with other field positions as necessary, particularly prior to events or when a position is vacant.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to engage with diverse people and an outgoing and friendly personality.
- The ability to register to vote in the State of Illinois.
- Reliable transportation and phone service.
- Some campaign and/or circulator experience.
- Knowledge of local issues and politics in Illinois and the 8th Congressional.
- Expectation is 3 days a week at least for part-time and 5 days for full-time.

- A good level of proficiency in Spanish and Hindi is a plus but not required.
- Onboarding and training will be given and support in the field and in office to help staff master skill set.
- At least one cycle of experience in a paid or volunteer campaign role preferred. Knowledge of VAN and/or campaigns preferred.
