Position Overview: 

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to collect DNA samples through swabbing clients and ensure the proper handling and shipping of these samples to our partner laboratories. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Duties:

• Collect DNA samples from clients in accordance with established protocols.
• Ensure all samples are properly labeled, documented, and stored prior to shipping.
• Package and send collected samples to designated partner laboratories, ensuring timely dispatch.
• Maintain a clean and organized collection environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Provide clear instructions and information to clients regarding the sample collection process.
• Maintain accurate records of sample collection and shipment, updating the database as required.
• Assist with inventory management of collection kits and related supplies.
• Participate in training sessions and stay updated on best practices in sample collection and handling.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Other duties and responsibilities as revised.

• Possesses a reliable personal vehicle and is willing to drive and travel within the DMV area to collect samples and ensure timely dispatch to partner laboratories.
• Skilled in collecting DNA samples following established protocols, ensuring accurate labeling, documentation, and storage of all samples.
• Capable of maintaining a clean and organized collection environment, strictly adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Able to provide clear instructions and information to clients regarding the sample collection process, ensuring they understand each step.

Required Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities:

• Previous experience in a laboratory, medical, or similar environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Computer skills, including familiarity with data entry and database management.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required for mobile collection services.

Working Conditions:

• This position requires flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Work will primarily be in-office at our Beltsville location but may include traveling within the DMV area for mobile collections.
• The role involves direct interaction with clients and requires maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
