Paralegal
Kalamazoo civil law firm seeking honest, motivated, detail-oriented and personable Paralegal. Previous experience a requirement. Must have a strong work ethic, writing/editing skills, ability to work with office equipment and file management systems, and interact positively with clients, coworkers and the courts. Must have Paralegal degree or certification or 7+ years as a legal assistant. Will also consider candidates with less legal experience and significant experience in a related field.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reading and summarizing documents including medical records and claim files, EOR, crash reports, expert reports, deposition transcripts
- Document preparation, drafting, assembly
- Processing, organizing, and analyzing discovery requests including subpoenas
- Drafting initial disclosures, discovery requests and responses, motions, orders, internal memos, mediation briefs
- Correspondence with courts, records service
- Legal Research
Candidates must have excellent writing/editing skills. Past experience with PIP or other insurance cases is preferred.
Hours are 8:30am-5pm M-F. To be considered include your resume and a cover letter setting forth your career goals and connection to the Kalamazoo area. Included a detailed description of the previous paralegal work. Compensation is base salary of $48,000 with incentive pay for billable hours over 1600/year.
