About the Firm
We are a growing boutique law firm focused on residential and commercial real estate transactions, with complementary practices in estate planning and business transactions. Our firm values precision, professionalism, collaboration, and exceptional client service. We are seeking a Senior Real Estate Paralegal who can manage files independently, anticipate issues before they arise, and serve as a trusted right hand to our attorneys.
This role is ideal for an experienced paralegal who enjoys ownership of their work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering seamless closings.
Position Overview
The Senior Real Estate Paralegal will handle real estate transactions from contract to close with minimal supervision. This role requires deep familiarity with Illinois real estate practices, strong organizational skills, and confidence working directly with clients, lenders, title companies, and opposing counsel. Position will be a Hybrid position.
Key Responsibilities
Real Estate Transaction Management
- Independently manage residential and commercial real estate files from intake through closing
- Review, draft, and manage purchase contracts, amendments, riders, and addendums
- Order and review title commitments, surveys, payoff letters, and any other necessary documents to assist with clearing title and drafting a closing statement.
- Prepare and review closing documents, settlement statements, and closing packages.
- Coordinate and schedule closings with clients, lenders, brokers, and title companies
- Track deadlines, contingencies, and compliance requirements
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the transaction
- Communicate professionally with lenders, title companies, realtors, and opposing counsel
- Proactively identify and escalate issues to attorneys
File & Practice Support
- Maintain organized digital and physical files in the firm’s case management system
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance across all documentation
- Assist with post-closing tasks, recordings, and follow-up items
- Support attorneys with overflow matters or complex transactions as needed
Cross-Practice Exposure (Preferred, Not Required)
- Assist with estate planning or probate-related real estate transfers
- Prepare deeds, affidavits, and supporting documentation tied to estates or trusts
Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years of real estate paralegal or legal assistant experience handling transactions independently
- Strong knowledge of real estate transactions from contract to close
- Experience working directly with title companies, lenders, and real estate agents
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred
- Experience with estate planning or probate-related real estate matters
- Familiarity with Illinois real estate practices
- Experience using legal case management software (e.g., PracticePanther, Clio, etc.)
- Background in a boutique or high-volume transactional law firm
