Design Engineer
McDavid Associates Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer (North Carolina Registered PE) with a strong background in the planning, design, permitting, and support management for water treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities) projects. McDavid Associates, Inc. is a privately owned consulting engineering/land surveying firm serving both municipal and private sector clients in the eastern North Carolina area. This is a full-time position based out of our Farmville, NC office location.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Experience with Hydraulic modeling using KY Pipes and Water GEMS.
- Experience with water system analysis and design to include water supply wells, elevated storage tanks, water treatment plants, and booster pump stations.
- PE Licensure with a background in water treatment plant design, wastewater collection systems, lifting stations, construction, permitting, water transmission systems, water storage tanks, and pumping stations.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Engineering program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- 5+ years of engineering experience working with municipal water/wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Desktop computer skills.
- Thorough understanding of government environmental regulations relating to potable water systems.
- Experience with chemical feed systems and water control valves is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, plan, and provide design oversight of water/wastewater projects.
- Conduct water quality studies to identify and characterize water pollutant sources.
- Perform hydraulic modeling and pipeline design.
- Review and critique proposals, plans, or designs related to water treatment systems.
- Prepare project specifications for water/wastewater system equipment to comply with applicable state and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Provide technical direction or supervision to computer-aided design (CAD) operators, or other personnel.
- Management/planning/design for multiple projects.
- Participate in Project presentations.
- Provide mentoring and training for junior engineers.
