College for Kids Summer Recreational Aide

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

This Position is a short-term, hourly, non-bargaining unit position for the summer only, working in the College for Kids Program at Saddleback College. It is anticipated to begin 6/9/2026, and last until approximately 8/30/2026.  

Under the supervision of the Saddleback College Director of Community Education and designees to assist the Saddleback College for Kids staff in providing a quality learning experience and safe environment to the participants, parents, staff, and visitors to the program. To assist in providing supervision and activities to program participants.  

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

Follows all Saddleback College and Community Education policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. 

Communicates with parents, teachers, and students; refers any outstanding issues to Station Lead or Program Lead.

Watches over children on regularly scheduled class breaks.

Assists children in locating their classes on campus. 

Escorts children moving to and from the classroom buildings and the athletic facilities. 

Performs transitions between 2-3 times per day from upper campus to lower campus.

Conducts safety checks each half hour.

Provides a service to parents who need assistance in locating their child’s room or teacher.

Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to represent Saddleback College Summer College for Kids Program in a positive, professional manner to the community.

Administer first aid and CPR as necessary. 

Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.

Report to work on a regular and consistent basis, as scheduled, to the assigned job.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: Must have completed 10th grade by July 1st. Prefer High School Diploma or equivalent. For those under the age of 18, a valid work permit will need to be submitted at the time of hire. Experience working with young children highly desirable. 

Certifications: A current, valid American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certification is required.

Employees work outdoors and are exposed to variable weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
