Project Engineer - May Grads
SUMMARY: Project Engineers (PE) play a key role in project success, and support project managers and superintendents in planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction activities from pre-construction through project completion. Key responsibilities include document control, crafting and tracking RFI's and submittals, material tracking, LEED documentation, updating schedules, supporting the PM with project financials, etc. PEs are also exposed to the superintendent path, and learn the essentials of schedule development, subcontractor management, etc. When available, PEs experience a rotation in preconstruction to round out their expertise of commercial construction. Project Engineers are a part of P-C's Ascend program, dedicated to offering career and leadership development to new professionals. Our PEs form a strong cohort with other new professionals throughout the company, and are offered regular instructor lead trainings, site tours, book club discussions, team building activities, and more.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organizes and maintains all project documentation .
- Develops and maintains job logs, submittals, RFIs, and change orders. Monitors logs and maintains awareness of critical items needed from subcontractors and architects.
- Supports the project team in fully utilizing P-C's quality control program.
- Generates clean and concise meeting minutes; delegates responsibilities on action items and follows up until completion.
- Assists the Project Manager with cost and schedule controls, including reviewing and approving subcontractor invoices and updating the project schedule.
- Reviews accuracy of subcontractor pricing prior to submission to owner.
- Leads project close-out and close-out documentation, including preparing as-built drawings.
- Schedules equipment start-ups and demonstrations; compiles O&M Manuals.
- Manages punch list completion.
- Fully complies with P-C’s Safety Program and Policies and ensures all trade partners and others adhere to it at all times.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Building Construction of similar required.
- Construction management internship or experience as a laborer or with a skilled trade preferred .
- Highly accountable and responsible.
- Detail orientated.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and fire in the belly.
- Driven to continuously learn and develop.
- Relationship orientated.
