Senior Fitness Instructor
Position Title: Senior Fitness Class Instructor
Location: Oakmont Rec Center, 3200 Jermantown Road, Oakton, VA 22124
Hours: 1-19 hours per week; varied schedule to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: Starting at $29.09 per hour, depending on experience and certifications.
Overview:
Oakmont Rec Center is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Fitness Instructor to lead safe, engaging, and age-appropriate exercise classes for our senior community.
Duties:
- This role involves designing and delivering fitness classes that support strength, mobility, balance, flexibility, and overall wellness while accommodating a wide range of abilities and health considerations.
- The Fitness Instructor will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment, providing clear instruction, demonstrating proper technique, and offering individualized modifications as needed.
- Ideal candidates will have experience working with older adults, strong communication and motivational skills, and a passion for promoting healthy, active aging.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Current Senior Fitness and Balance certification that meets Standard Operating Policy criteria.
- Current CPR and first aid certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
- Complete a criminal background check.
- Complete all mandatory county trainings.
- Ability to engage in physical activity.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
