Summer Camp Counselor/Assistant Counselor

HealthBarn USA, a proven leader in healthy-lifestyle education for children and their families, is looking for motivated entry-level Nutrition Educators and Assistants to join our team of Dietitians and Nutrition Teachers! We are looking for college students or graduates who are committed to learning and interested in growing with our team! As a HealthBarn USA Summer Camp Counselor, the role is to guide children through our engaging, hands-on programs focused on healthy living, nutrition education, gardening, cooking, outdoor activities, and overall wellness. As a Camp Counselor, you will be responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and fun environment for children to learn, grow, and explore healthy habits in a fun and interactive way.

Key Responsibilities:

-Supervise and engage campers in a variety of health, wellness, and gardening activities.

-Plan, lead, and participate in daily camp activities, including cooking classes, outdoor adventures, water games, and educational sessions.

-Allow for positive relationships with children, encouraging their participation and ensuring they feel supported throughout their camp experience.

-Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times, including monitoring behavior, health, and safety regulations.

-Encourage teamwork and cooperation among campers, promoting positive social interactions and conflict resolution.

-Support children in gardening activities, assisting them with planting, harvesting, and composting.

-Assist with camp logistics, including setting up activities, organizing materials, and ensuring clean and safe spaces.

-Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper progress or concerns.

-Participate in staff training sessions prior to camp to become familiar with the program and HealthBarn's educational framework.

-Maintain a fun, inclusive, and encouraging camp atmosphere, helping to create an unforgettable experience for all campers.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to facilitate nutrition education through hands-on lessons in the garden & kitchen.

- Demonstrates teamwork, open communication & good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow a lesson plan and listen carefully to instructions.

- Demonstrates attention to detail and good time management.

- Works well with children, parents, teachers and other employees.

- Willing to get your hands dirty (in the garden) and offer help where help is needed!

- Committed to the team and looking to learn and grow with our company!

- Takes initiative and has basic cooking skills.

SALARY:

This is a paid position. Starting at $18 - $22/hour commensurate with experience.
