Application Security Intern

Application Security Intern – East Lansing, MI – Michigan State University 

 

The Vertafore internship program is designed to provide vital learning and practical professional experience to take with you into your future career. During the 10-week program, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the company while working hand in hand with various teams across the organization. As an intern, you will be assigned a specific project that will focus on an actual Vertafore need and opportunity for process improvement at Vertafore. You’ll truly be a member of the team, and in your day-to-day, you’ll work with, be mentored by, and receive valuable performance feedback from senior leadership and management teams. Interns also participate in various educational seminars, will be educated on real-world applicable workplace skills, and learn career management/development best practices.   

  

Responsibilities: 

In this internship, the intern will work with our application security team to research changes made with the publication of OWASP Top 10:2025 (i.e., the top security risks to web applications) as well as evolving application security best practices and mitigation strategies utilizing AI. The intern will collaborate with his or her mentor to update internal training in response to this research. They will also review internally developed tooling and, if appropriate, suggest potential changes in response to their research. Additionally, they will partner to deliver a training session on one or more focus areas specific to these topics.  

  

Ideal Candidate Experience: 

Should have an interest in application security and AI along with strong research skills and attention to detail.  

Areas of study relevant to this role are application security, information security, AI, and computer science.
