Senior Recreation Leader

                             SENIOR RECREATION LEADER- FULL TIME


The Town of Mamaroneck is seeking to fill the full-time position of Senior Recreation Leader in the Recreation Department located at the Town Center, 740 W. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, N.Y. 10543.

 

Join a highly respected Recreation Department serving approximately 31,000 residents. The Department offers a variety of quality programs and events for residents of all ages utilizing its facilities including its park, ice rink, tennis courts, fields, senior center, indoor and outdoor pool complex.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the organization & personal leadership of a variety of recreation activities/programs within the Department of Recreation. Under general supervision, an incumbent in this class is directly responsible for a specific segment or segments of the recreation program, which may be associated with a variety of indoor/outdoor recreation facilities. Gives direction & instructions to subordinate level recreation personnel. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate level staff. Does related work as required.

 


EXPERIENCE:
Experience/background with administering and organizing adult and youth programs and events, including recruiting and interacting with part-time staff and contracted organizations. Must be familiar with techniques of planning, organization, motivation, and promotion of activities. Must be able to maintain records and make reports.

 


MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high
school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: (a) five (5) years of experience in which the primary function of the position was the conduct of recreation activities, programs or services; the operation of recreation facilities; or the conduct of educational or professional development programs or event planning; or (b) a Bachelor’s Degree* and one (1) year of experience as described in (a); or (c) a Bachelor’s Degree* in Recreation, Parks Resources, Leisure Services, Physical Education,  Kinesiology,  Sports  Management,  Outdoor  Adventure  Leadership, Tourism, Hospitality Management, Event Planning or related field; or (d) possession of current Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) status conferred by the National Recreation and Park Association.

 

 

*SPECIAL NOTE: Education beyond the secondary level must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting compensation range for the Senior Recreation Leader position is
$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience. The benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage for individual or family, paid vacation, sick leave and paid holidays.
