Reports To: Purchasing Manager
Location: Onsite – Dayton, MN
Summary (Main Purpose)
The Purchasing Intern will support the Purchasing team with supplier coordination, purchase order management, data accuracy, and operational analysis. This internship provides hands-on exposure to supply chain and procurement operations within a manufacturing environment. The intern will assist with maintaining supplier data in Epicor, placing purchase orders with approved suppliers, tracking procurement metrics, and helping document purchasing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Support
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining supplier master data in Epicor including price lists, lead times, and stocking parameters
- Support supplier communication and coordination with a limited supplier base
- Help ensure purchasing records are accurate and up to date
Purchase Order Support
- Assist with placing purchase orders for assigned suppliers
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on delivery timelines when needed
- Help maintain organized purchasing records and documentation
Procurement Analysis
- Review current items on order and compare against demand or project needs
- Identify potential gaps or supply risks and escalate concerns to the Purchasing team
- Assist with tracking procurement activities and supplier performance
Reporting & Metrics
- Support reporting efforts by tracking purchasing metrics and supplier performance indicators
- Assist with compiling purchasing data for internal reporting and team reviews
Process Documentation
- Assist with documenting purchasing processes and creating work instructions
- Help maintain organized documentation to support standardization and continuous improvement within the procurement team
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze information and identify potential issues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data management
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- nterest in supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to ERP systems (Epicor experience is a plus)
- Coursework or experience in supply chain or procurement concepts
