Summer Internships with the Columbia Land Conservancy
The Columbia Land Conservancy (CLC) is hiring for two full-time paid summer interns: Conservation Education Intern & Conservation Programs Intern.

These are paid 12-week positions, approximately 35 hours per week, running mid-May thru August, with flexible start and end dates. $18/hour, paid holidays (Memorial Day, Juneteenth, and July 4), 2 days of sick leave, $100/month travel stipend totaling $300

CONSERVATION EDUCATION INTERN

Position Summary
The Education Intern works to further CLC’s mission as it relates to engaging our community through in-person outreach and education. This position primarily supports CLC’s Education team
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with education programs
• Represent CLC at community events while sharing information about programs offered and answering questions
• Other tasks as your interests and passions allow! CLC believes internships are learning experiences and will work with the selected candidate to ensure that both professional and organization goals are achieved.

Essential Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Comfortable working in the office and in the field.
• Ability to maintain composure and positive attitude in the face of sometimes disgruntled members of the public.
• Weekday, weekend, and evening availability as needed.
• Eagerness to learn the basic best practices of education and outreach.
• Excitement to pursue CLC’s mission.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Position will require mobility to work in office and outdoor settings and use office equipment including a computer, camera, and/or smartphone, strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 pounds, vision to view computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Work environment will depend on the interests of the intern, but will likely be approximately half indoor and half outdoor. Outdoor conditions may involve hikes on CLC trails which occasionally consist of steep
terrain.
CONSERVATION PROGRAMS INTERN
Does the idea of tromping through the forest fill you with joy? If so, you could be a great fit for CLC’s Conservation Programs Intern position!
This position will primarily assist staff with easement stewardship and public conservation area stewardship efforts. The intern will be provided with training on various aspects of land trust work and given opportunities to learn many new skills. This is a paid 12-week position, approximately 35 hours per week, running mid-May thru August, with flexible start and end dates. $16/hour (no benefits, housing not provided).
Position Summary
This position will primarily assist staff with easement stewardship and public lands stewardship efforts. The intern will be trained on various aspects of land trust work and given opportunities to learn many new skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Stewardship team with annual monitoring of easement-protected lands
• Assist the Stewardship team with updating digital records, georeferencing scanned maps, and scanning documents
• Assist the Public Lands team with managing sites. Work may include:
• Assist other CLC program staff as needed

- An interest in learning more about a career in natural resource management, land trust work, or related fields.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
- Ability to work outdoors under a variety of conditions
- Motivated, self-starter, detail-oriented, and possess good organizational skills
- Knowledge of GPS/GIS technology a plus, but will be taught
- A valid driver’s license and insurable driving record (documentation to be provided upon request)
