Endocrinologist
Job Description
The Endocrinologist provides comprehensive specialty care focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of endocrine and metabolic disorders for a diverse patient population. This role supports Medical Associates Plus’s mission as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) by delivering high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based care in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The Endocrinologist collaborates closely with primary care providers and multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for patients with complex chronic conditions, including diabetes and hormonal disorders.
Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Excellence & Patient Care
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage endocrine and metabolic disorders, including but not limited to diabetes, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, and metabolic syndrome.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based clinical guidelines.
- Interpret laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, and endocrine testing to guide clinical decision-making.
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modification, and medication adherence.
- Collaborate with primary care providers to co-manage patients with complex endocrine conditions.
- Ensure timely, accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) within 72 hours of patient encounters.
- Provide urgent or emergency medical care as appropriate in accordance with BLS/ACLS standards.
- Deliver care in alignment with HRSA, UDS, HEDIS, PCMH, HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable Joint Commission standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, chart reviews, and internal audits.
- Support value-based care initiatives and population health strategies related to chronic disease management.
Care Coordination & Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, diabetes educators, care coordinators, pharmacists, and clinical support staff.
- Provide clinical guidance to support staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care delivery.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, peer reviews, and committee activities as assigned.
- Assist leadership with development and refinement of endocrine care protocols and workflows.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong clinical expertise in endocrinology and chronic disease management.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., NextGen or similar platforms).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse patient populations.
Education & Experience
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology fellowship.
- Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.
- Current DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certification.
- Minimum 1 year of post-fellowship experience preferred (new graduates encouraged to apply).
Working Conditions
- Role requires frequent interaction with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary staff.
- Work is performed primarily in an outpatient specialty clinic setting.
- May require occasional extended hours based on clinic needs.
