Position Overview
Woodruff Scout Camp is seeking a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to serve as a Health Lodge Technician for the 2026 summer camp season. This role provides hands-on experience delivering first aid, emergency medical care, and patient assessment in a dynamic outdoor camp environment serving more than 8,000 Scouts and leaders each summer.
This position is ideal for individuals pursuing careers in Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Medicine, Public Health, or Outdoor Recreation who want practical experience in a camp medical setting.
About Woodruff Scout Camp
Woodruff Scout Camp is one of the premier summer camp programs in the Southeast, located in the mountains of North Georgia. Each summer we host thousands of Scouts from across the United States for seven weeks of resident camp, offering a wide variety of outdoor programs including aquatics, climbing, mountain biking, shooting sports, and whitewater rafting.
Our Health Lodge provides medical support and first aid services to campers and staff throughout the camp season.
Responsibilities
The EMT / Health Lodge Technician will assist the Camp Health Officer with daily medical operations including:
Responding to medical incidents across camp
Providing first aid and emergency medical care
Conducting patient assessments and documenting care
Maintaining medical logs and incident reports
Supporting daily sick call operations
Assisting with medication procedures and health lodge operations
Assisting with staff medical needs
Coordinating with camp leadership during emergencies
Maintaining medical supplies and equipment
Required Qualifications
Current EMT Certification (Required)
Current CPR/AED certification
Ability to work in an outdoor environment and respond quickly to emergencies
Strong communication and decision-making skills
Ability to work collaboratively with camp leadership and health staff
Willingness to live on-site at camp for the duration of the season
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with youth or at summer camps
Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness EMT experience
Interest in careers in EMS, healthcare, nursing, or medicine
