Social Media Content Creator
Social Media Content Producer (Current College Student)
You spend more time making content than watching it. You know what stops a scroll, how to write a hook that earns the next three seconds, and why the same idea needs to look completely different on Instagram than it does on TikTok.
We're hiring a Social Media Content Producer to work directly with Vilas Dhar - global AI policy leader and President of the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation - to turn long-form talks, interviews, candid moments, and thought leadership into short, shareable content that reaches new audiences. The focus is Instagram (Reels, carousels, Stories) with additional content for TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
Vilas works at the intersection of AI, equity, and global governance. The ideas are substantive. Your job is to make them land with people who would never sit through a 45-minute keynote but will watch a 30-second reel twice.
What You'll Do
- Watch raw footage from talks, panels, interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments and identify the clips worth building around.
- Edit and produce platform-native content: Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, YouTube Shorts, carousels, and Stories.
- Write hooks, captions, and on-screen text that earn attention without cheapening the ideas.
- Manage a content calendar and posting schedule across platforms.
- Track performance metrics and use what you learn to improve the next round of content.
- Collaborate on creative strategy - pitch ideas, experiment with formats, and bring what you're seeing across platforms into the conversation.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated ability to produce social media content (not just consume it). We want to see your work.
- Video editing skills using tools like Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Strong visual instinct and native fluency with platform-specific trends, formats, and pacing.
- Interest in technology, equity, social impact, or public policy. You don't need to be an expert - you need to care.
- Currently enrolled in college.
To Apply, Submit:
- Your resume.
- A link to your social media portfolio or accounts where we can see content you've created.
- A sample reel (30-60 seconds). Watch this talk by Vilas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHJv7ld8Xlc) and cut a segment into an Instagram Reel - with a hook, text overlay, and platform-ready editing. This is the single most important part of your application.
- A short note (200 words or less) on what draws you to this kind of work.
