Small Business Community Engagement Member

Paid Summer Opportunity Supporting Local Small Businesses

Serve with Covation Center this summer while helping strengthen the local small business community. This paid AmeriCorps position focuses on outreach, networking, and connecting entrepreneurs with valuable regional resources.

Pay & Benefits

Approximately 37.5 hours per week (includes occasional evening events)

About the Role

The AmeriCorps Small Business Community Engagement Member will support Covation Center’s efforts to strengthen the regional small business ecosystem through outreach, research, and community engagement. This role focuses on connecting with local business owners, understanding community needs, and helping expand awareness of resources available to entrepreneurs.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct outreach to small business owners through meetings, calls, and events
  • Attend networking events and build relationships with community partners
  • Engage in conversations to better understand business needs and challenges
  • Research and identify organizations that support entrepreneurs
  • Help develop a regional directory of small business resources
  • Track outreach efforts and document key insights
  • Assist with materials that connect businesses to available support services
  • Highlight stories of small business impact and resilience
  • Participate in AmeriCorps orientation, trainings, and monthly convenings

  • Interest in community development, entrepreneurship, or economic development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable engaging with new people and building relationships
  • Organized and able to track information clearly
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

Basic Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Commitment to community service and AmeriCorps mission
