Accounting Clerk

SUMMARY

 

Performs accounting functions and other duties in accordance with the objective and procedures outlined by the CFO and Controller.  Accounting Clerk will ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.  Must be familiar with all accounting procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITES

 

  • Daily deposit of checks received
  • Monthly direct bill entry
  • Enter and pay weekly invoice batches for several divisions
  • Prepare A/R statements to send to clients
  • Review/reconcile and pay certain accounts payable in a timely manner
  • Work with operations account managers to understand client accounts
  • Process premium finance contracts
  • Occasional receptionist work
  • Prepare surplus lines filings weekly
  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years accounting experience
  • Detailed oriented, able to maintain accuracy and efficiency
  • Understands basic accounting principles 
  • Intermediate level in Excel, Word and general computer skills
  • Knowledge of the general operations of an insurance agency is desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
