Equity Research Associate
Brean Capital is seeking to hire Equity Research Associates in their Atlanta, GA location.
The Equity Research Associate conducts fundamental analysis on public and private companies in the Depository sector. This individual contributes to developing and publishing written investment recommendations for covered Research companies and the regulated financial institutions industry based on comprehensive research through various sources of information, including review of public SEC and company documents, regulatory filings, data from accessible databases, annual reports, trade journals, networking with industry contacts. In addition, interviews with senior management alongside Brean analysts and group conference calls with investors and bank management is a key source of the information process. This individual should focus on providing value-added research in support of an experienced Senior Analyst at Brean Capital. Responsibilities include financial modeling, writing industry and company reports, speaking with industry contacts/company management, and communicating investment ideas to institutional and retail sales, traders, and Brean clients of each of these colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with select company management in the Depository sector.
- Create and maintain earnings, valuation and industry models leveraging skills in accounting/finance.
- Research and write reports while responding to requests for data, information and calls from internal and external clients.
- Support multiple Analysts in the Depository sector with field research, writing, management calls.
- Keep abreast of industry-related news flow.
- Regularly interact with equity sales force.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; finance, economics or accounting degree preferred but other majors with strong technical skills and accounting knowledge will be considered.
- 1-3 years of experience preferred but not required – recent college graduates will be considered.
- Direct experience with financial modeling, valuation, and forecasting is required.
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts is required
Required Skills:
- Must have intellectual curiosity and a passion for research.
- Able to draft in-depth research reports as well as shorter maintenance notes.
- Possess advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Have a strong grasp of valuation concepts and residual income valuation models.
- Possess excellent communications skills.
- Knowledge of graphics software (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.), Blue Matrix, and Bloomberg is a plus.
- Able to sit for Series 7 and 63 and within 6 months from date of hire.
