Assistant Dean Simulation Hospital
Miami Dade College (MDC) is seeking an Assistant Dean, Simulation Hospital to lead one of the most advanced experiential learning environments in healthcare education. The Assistant Dean partners closely with faculty, program leaders, and technical teams to design and implement high-impact clinical simulation curricula, while overseeing state-of-the-art simulation systems and medical technologies across the College.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the Simulation Hospital’s growth, utilization, and effectiveness
- Drive innovation in human patient simulation systems, medical technologies, and multimedia applications
- Develop and implement multidisciplinary clinical simulation curricula aligned with accreditation standards
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate simulation-based learning into lecture and clinical instruction
- Lead interdisciplinary teams in designing and executing complex medical simulation scenarios
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and expansion of high-fidelity simulators and medical equipment
- Manage departmental budget, resources, and operational planning
- Develop and deliver technical training programs for faculty and staff on simulation systems and tools
- Promote and expand cross-program utilization of simulation technologies College-wide
- Identify and secure grant funding and community partnership opportunities
- Represent the College at local, state, and national professional and industry forums
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in a healthcare discipline (e.g., Nursing or related field) AND five (5) years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare discipline AND nine (9) years of relevant experience
- Active Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or related field
- Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience managing and supporting high-fidelity simulation systems and complex medical technologies
- Strong knowledge of instructional technology, clinical systems, and simulation applications
- Proficiency with technical infrastructure, operating systems, and project implementation
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, vSphere, Hyper-V)
- Knowledge of OSHA, Joint Commission (TJC), and HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive innovation
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, data, and regulatory standards
- Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural academic environment
