Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of a full-time faculty supervisor, teach HHP 1250 (i.e., grade discussion boards, quizzes/exams, and provide feedback to students.
  • Assist faculty in accreditation tasks that may include report writing, data analysis, social media, and other communications. 
  • Assist in various research and service projects. 
  • Assist the administrative assistant in any clerical responsibilities.
  • Help professors with grading or classroom instruction in all disciplines.
  • Be available for classroom supervision for absent professors.
  • Additional departmental duties as requested by the Administrative Assistant, Graduate Coordinator, or Chair.

  • Communication - The GTA will develop both oral and written communication skills by leading the HHP 1250 class, collaborating with faculty and peers, and creating written communications in the form of social media posts and accreditation reporting.
  • Professionalism - The GTA will practice professionalism skills by managing academic and work responsibilities, applying ethical standards, and demonstrating reliability and respect in all interactions with HHP students and faculty.
  • Teamwork - The GTA will practice teamwork by collaborating closely with faculty on various projects, with students and supervisor on teaching assignments, and with the university community on recruitment initiatives.
  • Technology - The GTA will utilize technology for reporting and social media by creating digital content for the MPH program, analyzing data trends, and communicating accreditation-related information.

Job Requirements:

  • Applicants must apply and be admitted to one of the graduate programs offered in the Department of Health and Human Performance. This position will begin in the spring semester of 2026.   
  • Dependable and punctual. 
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). 
  • Technology skills and experience with Desire to Learn (D2L) or other Learning Management System.

  • Full-time graduate student accepted into APSU HHP graduate program with interest in wellness, physical education, sport psychology, exercise science, public health, or health care management. Must have a good understanding of Microsoft Office.  The applicant must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
