Environmental Technician (Seasonal – Summer)
The Institute for Environmental Assessment (IEA) provides testing, monitoring, and consulting services in environmental health and safety, including asbestos building materials, indoor air quality, and OSHA compliance.
We are currently hiring Seasonal Environmental Technicians for our Rochester, MN office. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on field work, problem‑solving, and supporting safe project execution.
Position Overview
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting asbestos air sampling and maintaining accurate field documentation
- Enforcing project specifications and regulatory requirements
- Providing on‑site project oversight and coordination
- Traveling locally to project sites (paid travel time; mileage reimbursed)
This is a full‑time seasonal position with 50–60 hours per week expected. Overtime is paid for all hours worked over 40.
Qualification Requirements
Candidates must meet the education and/or experience requirements for Asbestos Site Supervisor certification through one of the following pathways:
- 2,000 hours of work experience in general construction trades, farm work, asbestos-related work, safety, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in physical or life sciences, engineering, or architecture plus 500 hours of relevant work experience; OR
- Completion of an apprenticeship program within the general commercial construction trades.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to wear a respirator and pass a respirator physical
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Position Details
- Job Type: Full‑time, Temporary (Seasonal)
- Hourly Rate: $22/hour
