Graduate Assistant Student Involvement

Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement will support the daily operations of the Student Involvement office, including assisting with Student Life events, supporting student engagement initiatives, coordinating marketing and social media efforts, and managing event logistics.

50% Tuition Remission

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director of Student Involvement to manage main office operations, plan and execute events, and meet with students to increase their campus involvement  
  • Support major Student Involvement and Student Life initiatives including but not limited to Orientation, Family & Friends Weekend, Homecoming, Student Life Awards, and Bison Fest
  • Create and manage the event calendar for off campus Bison Shuttle programming
  • Oversee the Bison Leader Board retention initiative, designed to increase student engagement through participation in campus programming and involvement in co-curricular activities.
  • Assist to oversee marketing and social media management, communications and policies with the Events and Operations Coordinator for Student Involvement
  • Collaborate with various Student Life offices, including Student Belonging, Health and Counseling Services, Residence Life, and Campus Recreation, to effectively execute program or communication needs
  • Chaperone events as needed – including evening, late night and weekends
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed to ensure the smooth functioning of department operations

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program
  • Demonstrate ability and desire to work closely with students and communicate effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Experience with scheduling, budgeting, marketing, and coordinating logistics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Forms, and Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate campus vehicles in accordance with college policies

Physical Job Components

  • Ability to lift and move light to moderate supplies and office materials (approximately 10–25 lbs)
  • Ability to use standard office and telecommunications equipment, including computers, printers, and phones
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing administrative and event-related duties
  • Ability to move around campus to support meetings, programs, and events as needed
  • Ability to operate campus vehicles as needed for event support and program logistics
