Construction Integrity Monitor

*This is a Freelance Construction Engineer (1099 Independent Contractor) opportunity. Part-time (20+ hrs/wk) to Full-time (40 hrs/wk) options, health-reimbursement stipend, project-based with ongoing work potential.

Guardian Group specializes in construction integrity monitoring for large‑scale and high‑profile projects, with a focus on contract compliance, engineering quality, safety, environmental performance, and adherence to local, state, federal, and other regulatory standards.


Responsibilities
• Perform construction integrity monitoring on active projects, including regular field observations, documentation, and reporting.
• Review project documents (plans, specs, contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders) to verify compliance with contract requirements.
• Conduct engineering‑based assessments of quality, workmanship, and constructability; identify non‑conformances and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate safety and environmental practices in the field for compliance with project requirements and applicable regulations.
• Prepare clear, timely field reports, photo logs, and non‑conformance documentation for project stakeholders.
• Support coordination with owners, contractors, designers, and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Assist with data collection, trend analysis, and preparation of summary dashboards or presentations.


Required Qualifications
• BS degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related discipline.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in construction, construction inspection, construction management, or related engineering roles.
• Strong understanding of construction documents (plans, specs, contracts) and basic construction means and methods.
• Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations applicable to construction (OSHA, local codes; others a plus).
• Solid written and verbal communication skills; ability to write concise, objective field reports.
• Comfort working on active construction sites in all weather conditions and traveling between project locations as needed.


Preferred Qualifications
• EIT/FE certification or PE license (or active pursuit of such credentials).
• Experience with construction monitoring, special inspections, owner’s representative roles, or construction QA/QC.
• Familiarity with contract administration, change order review, and claims support.
• Experience with safety or environmental audits, or working under a formal safety program.
• Proficiency with standard tools: MS Office, PDF markup, and basic project management software; exposure to BIM/CAD is a plus.

• OSHA-30, SWAC, AWS, NICET, USACE Certifications a plus
