Summer Camp Cabin Leader

Summary

Cabin Leaders guide campers through their camp experience. This is done by leading small group conversations, large and small group activities, assisting with daily worship and campfire, and generally being a mentor and friend to campers. Cabin Leaders have the opportunity to work with campers of all ages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact and mentor for assigned campers.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment, fostering positive relationships among campers and guests.
  • Serve as a positive role model, exemplifying the shared values of Green Lake Lutheran Ministries.
  • Foster the personal and spiritual growth of campers and guests through meaningful interactions and discussions.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a vibrant and united camp community.
  • Embrace the opportunity to expand your faith, engage in leadership development, and gain experience in working with a variety of people.
  • Ensure the safety of campers and guests during all activities, following established protocols and guidelines.
  • Lead a wide variety of on-site activities, games, and programs that showcase the unique features of each location.
  • Participate in all aspects of the camp day, including meals, free time activities, worship, and evening programs.
  • Provide guidance to campers ranging in ages from 1st to 12th grade.
  • Lead groups in intergenerational Family Camps and facilitate activities for participants of all ages.
  • Assist in implementing Vacation Bible School at area congregations as part of the Day Camp program.
  • Host and facilitate various unique program and site use offerings at any of our three sites: Camp House, Green Lake Bible Camp, and Shores of St. Andrew Bible Camp.
  • Assist in hospitality duties such as setting up and taking down events, cleaning, and organizing spaces around camp.
    Qualifications and Requirements
  • Passion for working with children and creating a positive camp experience.
  • Previous experience working with children is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced camp environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing situations.
  • Willingness to participate in all camp activities, including overnight stays and off-site programs.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • 18+ years of age preferred.

Working Relationships (Internal/External)

  • Work alongside Program Support Staff for program needs
  • Work alongside Cabin Leaders for camper meds and health/safety
  • Work alongside Site Program Director/APDs for registration day

Hours: N/A

Compensation: 

  • Receive accident insurance coverage (Worker Compensation).
  • Receive a minimum of $450/week in wages as well as room and board during the dates of your employment.

Supervisor: Assigned Programs Director and Assistant Program Director
