Wendy's Wonderful Kids Recruiter

Caring for Kids, Inc. (foster care and adoption agency) is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time social worker to become part of our Wendy’s Wonderful Kids team. This child-focused recruiter will serve children in the custody of a variety of counties, primarily Cuyahoga, and strive to find adoptive families for older and hard-to-place youth.  

 

Job Type: Full Time (40 hours/week)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Thorough case record review
  • Meet with the youth monthly, at a minimum, to develop trust and build rapport 
  • Build a support network for the youth by meeting with significant adults and maintaining regular ongoing contact with past connections such as siblings, caregivers, relatives, professionals, and others important to the child
  • Identification of interested individuals and potential permanency connections through a diligent search
  • Customize recruitment activities
  • Provide ongoing assessment of child’s readiness for adoption and preparation needs
  • Child preparation for specific placement and family education regarding child’s needs
  • Planning for post-placement services and support
  • Attend regular agency meetings and events as requested
  • Attend educational opportunities provided by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is required
  • Experience in child welfare, foster care, or adoption is required. At least three years of experience in one of those areas is preferred, but no less than one year
  • Licensure in the State of Ohio is preferred but not required (LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC or equivalent).
  • Adoption assessor training is preferred but can obtain at a later date
  • Valid driver's license, car insurance, and a clean driving record, as well as a reliable vehicle with valid registration, are required

Performance/Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed from home, at county buildings, and in the community, and involves frequently driving to meetings and visits with youth throughout Ohio.
  • Attention to detail and confidentiality required.
  • This full-time position (40 hours per week) has flexible hours and will involve some evenings and occasional weekend appointments.
  • Requires computer competency.
  • Ability to manage own time and schedule.
