Summer Intern (Community Planner)

This position can be assigned in any of the divisions within the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC). The trainee will work alongside experienced staff members to learn the skills necessary to gain practical work experience that augments training in an academic course of study related to community planning, and to develop their career in this field. The trainee will gain practical experience and knowledge of the planning field while completing various tasks assigned to them. Complexity of work is assigned equivalent to relative experience and education.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Assisting in the execution of various projects and initiatives.
  2. Participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
  3. Conducting research and analysis to support divisional objectives.
  4. Organizing and preparing information and statistical data in factual reports.
  5. Preparing visual aids (charts, maps, etc.), to use in presenting information to a community.
  6. Completing assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  7. Researching and investigating new or improved business and management practices for application to agency programs or operations.
  8. Writing draft reports of research findings.
  9. Attending training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
