The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator's Office is offering excellent opportunities for motivated individuals who are seeking a career opportunity as an Identification Technician I. The Identification Technician I is responsible for fingerprinting, photographing, and collecting DNA from inmates; fingerprinting job seekers and the public for background checks, and locating warrants connected with inmates and confirming identity matches.

Applicants must be willing to work shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holiday. 

Fresno County Detention Facilities are "no-hostage" facilities. This means that in the event you are taken hostage, the County will not bargain for your safe release.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below:

OPTION 1:

Experience: One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience with a criminal justice agency.

OPTION 2:

Education: Completion of thirty (30) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system. At least fifteen (15) of the required semester units must be in Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a closely related field. A copy of your transcripts verifying the required education must be attached to your application.

Note: Incumbents must obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment.

As a condition of employment, candidates must undergo and pass a polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination and a thorough background investigation (background materials for failed candidates are retained for three years). Background investigations include employment/credit histories, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified.
