Summer Child Care Position

About Us:
Our unique child care program, located on the University of Iowa campus, has been offering a variety of student employment opportunities since 1989. We believe that the job of children is to play and learn through interactions with peers and their environment. A love of children and the outdoors is a definite requirement, as we spend all nice weather days in our giant backyard, learning and growing together.
We are looking for vibrant and energetic employees who are available to work all or part of the summer months. Our child care program offers flexible scheduling for our part-time student staff. Currently, we are looking to hire seasonal workers to cover our Summer Enrollment: the last 2 weeks in May, all of June and July, and the first 3 weeks of August.
Job Description:
- Develop meaningful and rewarding bonds with our enrolled children (ages 2-5 years)
- Provide careful supervision and companionship
- Engage kids with our play-based activities and materials
- Help kids foster peer friendships
- Encourage children's social emotional growth and problem solving skills
Qualifications:
Candidates must pass a required state background check, and meet minimum education and experience requirements:
- 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED is required
- Experience working with children is preferred
- Preference is given to those enrolled in Education, Social Work, Nursing, or other Helping Majors
Compensation:
- $10-$12/hour depending on experience
