Internship at the MGH - Harvard Center for Addiction Medicine
The Center for Addiction Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking highly qualified and motivated students for an internship starting in Summer 2026 to gain in-depth exposure to the daily operations of clinical research. This is an opportunity to engage with all aspects of the experimental process, including recruitment, retention, and dissemination of findings. Interns will also gain experience working with clinical populations.

Responsibilities
Interns may work on different aspects of several clinical trials being conducted at the Center. Responsibilities may include running parts of subject visits, data entry and checking, subject recruitment, phone screening, administrative work, social media updates, administration of study procedures, and other tasks. This is a flexible position -- interns will have some input on their duties based on personal interests and study needs.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience, Public Health, Community Health, Pre-med, Sociology, Social Work, Data Science)
- Interest in substance use and mental health research
- Prior research experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Desire to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work both independently and collaboratively
Requirements
Weekday availability of at least 20 hours for per week, in blocks of no less than 4 hours. More availability is always welcomed.
Goals
After the internship, interns will be able to:
- Conduct study procedures according to protocol and interact with study subjects professionally
- Take vital signs and complete other study measures
- Prepare a short oral presentation of their work or assigned topic at the conclusion of the internship
For highly qualified, motivated candidates, it may be possible to apply this internship toward an academic requirement (e.g., thesis, capstone). Check with your school's Internship Coordinator before accepting the offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for academic credit.
This is an unpaid internship. Receiving course credit is optional.
