JOB TITLE: North Central Field Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
STATUS: Part-time, hourly (up to 30 Hours / Week; $18.50 - $20.00 / Hour)
GENERAL SUMMARY
The North Central Field Coordinator is responsible for supporting the ongoing development and management of Glean Kentucky’s gleaning operations in the North Central region, with a focus on Jefferson, Oldham and Henry counties. This position will recruit and support produce growers, grocers, volunteers, and recipient groups to maximize efficiency and efficacy, while helping to analyze and solve challenges as they arise. The Coordinator will maintain strong relationships with constituents of Glean Kentucky to expand and promote the programming goals of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize Community Asset Mapping to identify and document potential Glean Kentucky stakeholder groups (produce sources, volunteers, recipient agencies) in the region.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing stakeholder groups in the region.
- Participate in community and other groups working on hunger, local food, and other related issues in a professional manner consistent with the image and mission of Glean Kentucky within the region.
- Introduce the Glean Kentucky model to target stakeholder groups to recruit sources and recipients of gleaned produce.
- Coordinate the recruitment and training of volunteers in the region.
- As gleaning relationships are established, coordinate volunteers to pick up and deliver donated fruits and vegetables.
- Maintain detailed gleaning records and community asset databases.
- Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategic planning goals and objectives within the region.
- Provide updates of work at weekly Program Staff Meetings.
- Provide detailed reports of all gleaning activities in the region for use in organization-wide communications, fundraising, and compliance.
- Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES
- Experience working within the local food system of Jefferson, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in North Central Kentucky.
- Expanding to other areas such as Bullitt and Shelby Counties.
- Experience with community organizing, volunteer coordination, or related efforts.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple and diverse tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident using a computer with office-type applications to conduct basic regional analysis for regional reporting purposes.
- Access to a reliable vehicle and a smart phone.
- A good driving record.
- An ability to lift 50 pounds.
