Food Security Americorps VISTA

The VISTA member will work closely with CRIS staff to strengthen our capacity to address food insecurity among local families in Central Ohio. The member will build partnerships with community organizations, food pantries, community gardens, and educational providers to expand access to culturally appropriate food, nutrition education, and food budgeting resources. They will develop systems to track client food needs and referrals, identify patterns, and inform emergency responses. The member will also formalize and coordinate a volunteer program that will assist with food distribution, grocery delivery, transportation, and community garden participation. Through outreach and educational initiatives, the VISTA member will raise community awareness of food insecurity and build lasting capacity within CRIS to promote client stability and self-sufficiency
