Tax Technician II (Part-time or internship)

Job Description 

An Accounting/Tax Technician II is an individual who is responsible, trustworthy and a self-starter. The candidate must understand the goals of the company and the importance of the details of implementation. Must have excellent communication skills, ability to work in a high-pressure environment and attention to detail. The ideal candidate is always focused on customer service and implements research and analytical skills to provide the best end results for our clients. 

Key Tasks/ Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Manage tax inboxes: physical paper, tax emails, and Onvio client portals
  • Organize and maintain inner-tax department Excel Spreadsheet for incoming projects - Organize, scan, upload, and manage client’s tax prior and current year reports, statements, and documents 
  • Assign Staff to tax projects in Time Management Software: Practice CS
  • Contact clients via email, call, or through software to provide tax status, missing documents, to convey any other required information by the tax team 
  • Return client phone calls, voicemails, or emails in accordance with office policy of 24-hour turnaround 
  • Print and assemble final versions of tax returns for corporations, individuals, partnerships, and nonprofit institutions. 

Additional administrative responsibilities: 

  • Mail and Email Yearly Tax Newsletter 
  • Send Tax Organizers 
  • Printing 9325s from tax software 
  • Send Quarterly Estimated Tax Reminder Letters (paper and email) 
  • Set up New Client profiles in Onvio & tax software when needed 
  • Update clients' contact information in all office software 
  • Input client tax data efficiently as needed into tax software 
  • Prepare, assist, and support tax team in filing tax returns and extensions on time 
  • Creating spreadsheets for client income and expenses as needed 
  • Data entry of accounting transactions 
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card accounts in Accounting Systems 
  • Filing of Hard Copy & Electronic Workpapers 
  • Create a List of Client Missing Items for Staff and send to Staff 
  • Assist with Annual Accounting Review for Accounting Clients and Tax Clients 
  • Prepare and Assist in Preparing Individual Tax Returns Timely 
  • Assist in preparing Corporate, Partnership, Non-Profit Tax Returns Timely 
  • Follow Company Tax Preparation Protocols and Procedures 
  • Respond to client inquiries on tax problems 
  • Track employee time using time management software for all client activity 
  • Research information for CPA, managers, and staff using research software and other resources 

Skills: 

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish required 
  • QuickBooks Desktop experience recommended 
  • QuickBooks Online experience recommended 
  • Able to communicate effectively with clients and staff  
  • Amazing attention to detail 
  • Ability to multitask 
  • Must be able to Manage Time efficiently & effectively 
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills 
  • Intermediate level of Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Strong organization skills 
  • Ability to use copier, scanner, and fax equipment 
  • Professional appearance and provide a positive company image to the public 

We are located in North Austin (Parmer/MoPac)
