Graphic Designer & Video Editor

Company Description

Newdle is redefining how people access and understand news by providing tools that prioritize evidence and context over noise. Our platform empowers both independent creators and curious readers to uncover the real story behind breaking headlines. More than just an aggregator, Newdle serves as a research engine designed to promote transparency and truth. We are dedicated to fostering informed communities and reshaping the future of journalism.

The Role

We're hiring a Graphic Designer and Video Editor who can execute fast, think visually, and hold a high bar for quality under deadline pressure. You'll be the creative engine behind Newdle's visual output — producing short-form videos, motion graphics, carousels, and branded templates that translate breaking news into compelling, shareable content. You'll work directly with the Social Media Manager, who will brief you daily on stories and direction, but you'll own the visual execution completely.

What You'll Do

Short-Form Video Production

  • Produce short-form news videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and X — optimized for vertical and square formats
  • Edit video with precision: tight cuts, accurate captions, strong hooks in the first two seconds
  • Translate Social Media Manager briefs into polished video content, often on same-day turnaround
  • Build and maintain a reusable library of video templates, lower thirds, and motion assets that scale with our publishing cadence

Graphic Design & Carousel Production

  • Design Instagram carousels, Story graphics, and static social posts in Figma that are clean, editorial, and brand-consistent
  • Develop and iterate on Newdle's visual identity system for social — typography, color, layout, and iconography
  • Produce data visualizations and infographics that make complex news stories immediately legible
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to ensure every visual matches the editorial tone of the story

Motion Graphics & Animation

  • Create animated text overlays, transitions, and motion sequences that elevate video without overwhelming it
  • Apply motion design sensibility to breaking news formats — fast, clean, nothing gratuitous
  • Build motion templates that allow the team to spin up new videos quickly without compromising quality

Brand & Systems Thinking

  • Maintain and evolve Newdle's visual design system across all platforms and formats
  • Document templates and asset libraries so the creative process stays consistent as the team scales
  • Flag when content direction conflicts with brand standards and propose alternatives

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 2+ years of professional graphic design and video editing experience, ideally in media, news, or social-first content
  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma — you design natively in it, not as an afterthought
  • Strong video editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent — with a portfolio to prove it
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work quickly — you know when something is good enough to publish and when it needs another pass
  • Strong typographic sensibility and eye for clean, editorial-first design
  • Experience designing for Instagram, TikTok, X, and Reels — you know the specs, the culture, and what performs
  • Comfortable working from written briefs with minimal visual reference — you can translate words into visuals independently
  • Highly organized, with a system for managing assets, versions, and project files

Nice to Have

  • Experience with After Effects or motion design tools for animated graphics
  • Background in news, journalism, or media — you understand why accuracy in visual context matters
  • Familiarity with AI-powered design or video tools (RunwayML, Adobe Firefly, ElevenLabs, etc.)
  • Illustration or data visualization skills

Portfolio Note

We review portfolios before resumes. Your portfolio should include at least two short-form videos and two social graphics or carousels. Behance, a personal site, or a Google Drive folder. Please give us some sample work for us to review.

How to Apply

Send your resume and portfolio link to careers@newdle.com. In three to five sentences, tell us about a piece of visual news content — video, graphic, or otherwise — that you think was exceptionally well-executed, and why. Applications without a portfolio link will not be reviewed.
