Medical Assistant Scribe
Position Title: Medical Assistant / Medical Scribe
**FULL TIME 32 hours per week**
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant / Medical Scribe supports physicians in both clinical and administrative capacities, ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality patient care. This role combines direct patient care responsibilities with real-time medical documentation and clerical support.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs and documenting medical history in Epic
- Accurately scribe patient encounters in real-time within the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms while ensuring comfort and readiness
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
- Administer injections as directed by the physician
- Perform X-rays in accordance with clinical protocols
- Apply and assist with:
- Orthotic casting
- Below-knee casts
- Low-Dye strapping
- Unna boots
- Perform basic podiatric care, including:
- Nail debridement
- Callus and corn debridement
- Dressing changes
- Schedule surgeries, including coordination with surgical centers, patient communication, and preparation of charts, pre-admission, and consent forms
- Document patient phone calls and maintain accurate logs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations
Administrative Duties
- Maintain exam rooms by stocking supplies and ensuring cleanliness and organization
- Order, sort, and store medical supplies and equipment
- Clean and sterilize instruments in accordance with protocols
- Support front office operations as needed, including:
- Greeting patients
- Answering phones
- Scheduling appointments
- Performing data entry
- Completing manual insurance verifications
- Assist with general office workflow and additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical setting preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Interest in healthcare or pre-health career track strongly preferred
Work Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and squat for extended periods
- Frequent computer use, including typing and documentation
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs
- Ability to assist patients with mobility, including transferring in and out of exam chairs with team support
- Flexibility to travel between office locations as needed
