Environmental Health Specialist Trainee
The Department of Environmental Health and Quality is seeking to fill an immediate vacancy within the Hazardous Materials Division (HMD) division. However, the list may be used by other divisions within DEHQ, such as Community Health Division (CHD) as well as Land and Water Quality Program (LWQ) to fill future vacancies.
Environmental Health Specialist Trainees protect the environment, public health, and overall safety of San Diego County residents through permit review, inspection, consultation, planning, investigation and enforcement activities in a wide variety of program areas. Environmental Health Specialist Trainees receive on-the-job training to perform basic inspections and investigations for compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency with at least 30 semester units of core science coursework and laboratories as specified by California Department of Public Health.
